Years ago, I purchased a trip for two to New York City for my mother and I. She had always wanted to visit the Big Apple, and it made a great gift. We wanted to make the most of our trip so we bought two day tickets for a hop on, hop off tour of the city.

The first day we were in the city, we saw as many sights as we could handle. About halfway through the day, we realized we had to use the restroom. Never having been to New York City before, we were not sure what our best option was. The tour bus was somewhere in SoHo, and we spotted a Bloomingdale's out the window.

We got off at the next stop, and headed in to the store to use the facilities and admire the merchandise. About fifteen minutes later we were ready to continue with our tour, and headed to the pick up location for our bus. We had placed our tour bus tickets in my pocket, but they weren't there when we went to return. The bus pulled over to pick us up, and we couldn't find our tickets. We explained this to the driver, and at first it seemed he didn't believe us. We were going to be stranded in SoHo, without any hope of finding our hotel, for sure.

Finally, he agreed to take us back to the main pick up and drop off location, where the tour company office is. That was the same place we caught our bus, so that was fine with us. Unfortunately, our tour of the Big Apple was cut short that day, though the company did give us half day tickets for the next day.

When we got back to our hotel, we searched every pocket and crevice of all of our clothing, including our bags and money belts, and we never found the tour bus tickets. They vanished, and their location is still a mystery!
